Thermacool 0.3C
Thermacool 0.3C Coating is a water-based, 100% pure acrylic, heat-reflective top-coat. The Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) value is 102. This single component coating system designed to be applied on all types of cementitious surfaces like RCC, asbestos sheet, side walls, concrete roofs, bitumen sheets etc. It is modified with a specially designed filler powder and has excellent durability. It has good elongation properties thus assisting crack-bridging and water-proofing, when coated over water-proofing chemicals.
Thermacool 0.3C Coating is a unique, high heat-reflective product designed and developed by IIT-Bombay. Thermacool 0.3C is approved by established green building body; Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assesment (GRIHA) Council.
- Thermacool 0.3C Coating has a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) of 102; approved by CEPT University as per ASTM method.
- Thermacool 0.3C Coating provides long lasting barrier and excellent water-proofing properties.
- Thermacool 0.3C Coating is tested and approved by NABL Certified Lab as per ASTM/LEED Standards for Green Buildings. It is BIS 17218: 2019 certified.
- Being water-based, Thermacool 0.3C is easy to handle and apply by brush, roller and by spray wherever needed.
- Excellent abrasion resistance, Pull-off adhesion and Cross-hatch adhesion observed in performance tests. Tested by Corrosion Science & Engineering Division, Department of Metallurgical Engineering & Material Science, Indian Institute of Technology, Powai, Mumbai.
For New Construction
- New masonry/building surfaces must be cured completely to avoid effervescence.
- Ensure that surface is completely free from all dirt, loosely held plaster, powdery residue, oil, grease or any other contamination.
For Existing Construction
- Remove mildew, oil, dust, dirt, peeling paint or other contamination to ensure good adhesion.
- Any previous growth of fungus, algae or moss needs to be removed thoroughly by thorough wire brushing and water cleaning. For speed of operation water jet cleaning may be used.
Priming of Masonry Substrate
- The masonry substrate can be primed with a suitable concrete primer from a standard manufacturer, as per recommended application direction.
- If the terrace has a leakage issue, then proper water-proofing should be done using water-proofing chemical Thermacool WP 51 as per recommended application directions.
- For masonry substrates that appear highly porous, it is advisable to apply a thin coat of very diluted primer/water-proofing so that it penetrates the porosities and hairline cracks thus fortifying them. The recommended coat of primer/water-proofing can then follow suit.
Note: Application of coating should not be done immediately after a rain, during foggy weather or when rain is predicted
Once the surface is primed, two coats of Thermacool 0.3C Coating to be applied without any dilution.
Thermacool 0.3C Coating can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray.
- Coating : Single pack, ready to use.
- Recommended DFT - 2 coats of 50-60 microns per coat, i.e. total 100-120 microns.
- Recommended no. of coats – 2 coats.
- Re-coatability – Minimum 3-4 hrs before applying the second coat.
Note: Each coat shall be applied uniformly over the entire surface. Skips, runs, sags and drips shall be avoided. Each coat shall be free from pinholes and blisters. Contamination of painted surfaces between coats shall be avoided.
